Medieval (late 13th to mid-15th centuries) composite strap end: The strap end is a sub-rectangle in plan which tapers slightly and the narrow terminal is pointed with a knop at the apex. The opposite terminal is a 'W' shape. The strap end is made up of two copper alloy sheets divided by a copper alloy spacer. The two sheets are held together by a copper alloy rivet at either terminal. The strap end is undecorated. The surface of the strap end has a shiny dark green patina.
It measures 31.08mm long, 19.05mm wide, 4.08mm thick and weighs 6.13g.
In Egan and Pritchard (2002) there are similar strap ends, particularly No. 660 which date to the late 13th to mid-15th centuries. Recorded example is found at WAW-D3ABC4.
