An incomplete post-Medieval to Modern whistle (c. 1700-c. 1900).

The main body of the whistle is hollow and tubular in cross-section with a semi-circular sound hole at the top. Between the sound hole and the mouth-piece is a narrow collar. The mouth-piece is semi-circular at the top and concave on the underside to accommodate the lower lip of the player. Beyond the collar the terminal end of the whistle is rounded with an elongated collared knop. A casting seam can be seen on opposite sides of the mouth-piece. The interior soldered 'baffle' of sheet metal is missing.

Length: 30.8mm, maximum diameter of the collar: 15.6mm. Weight: 7.85g.

This whistle has a matt green patina.
