Incomplete gilt copper alloy Medieval harness pendant. Sub square body with missing upper loop. The front face has a raised pellet in each corner with smaller pellets halfway along each of the two vertical sides. The centre contained within the pellets, has a raised lozenge shape with a similarly raised saltire cross within; the four reserved cells created contain evidence of red enamel. The area reserved between the pellets and the outside of the lozenge is gilded and filled with tiny pellets which create a grained appearance to the background. Reverse is plain. Related pendants are illustrated in Ashley,S. Medieval Armorial Furniture in Norfolk. p9. Circa AD 1200-1350.
