WEIGHT

Unique ID: NLM-5D2A9D

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Lead and copper alloy weight. A tiny cast conical lead weight with a drawn copper alloy wire of diameter 1.7mm projecting from its flat end. Patinated. The wire is here taken as the relict stub of a loop, probably for attachment to a fishing line. The use of an inserted loop rather than a tied fastening or tying groove is unusual for this class of object and may point to a post-medieval date. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1650-1900

Length (weight only): 12.4mm, Diameter: 10.6mm, Weight: 6.14gms

Class: Line
