A post-Medieval, cast Copper-alloy double-looped buckle (c. 1570-c. 1700) of which only the frame survives.
This buckle is sub circular in cross section. It is rectangular in plan, has rounded corners and each loop is a similar size. External frame edges are rounded. The pin bar is sub-square in cross-section. Viewing the buckle from the side, each loop rises from the centre to the outer edges from the horizontal plane. This appears to be intentional and not as a result of distortion.
The frame has a patchy patina rubbed off in some small areas. it is abraded with some tinning evident.
Frame: Length: 26.61mm; width: 17.21mm; thickness: 3.02mm. Weight 3.84grammes.
A similar buckle is featured and dated c. 1570-1700 (Whitehead 1996: 75, ref: 464).
