An incomplete copper alloy key dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43-300). The remains of the key consist of the bow leading into the beginnings of the shank. The bow is trefoil-shaped openwork, with two of the three trefoils complete. The bow tapers into a square collar of two sections; the first with four raised ribs running equally around the collar, and the second section with three raised ribs running around the collar. From the square-sectioned collar the beginnings of the circular-sectioned shank emerge. The shank terminates after 5.32mm in a worn break. The object has a dark green patina.
A similar example can be seen in Read (2001: 69) no. 521.
