A lead artefact, probably a cloth seal dating from the Post-medieval period, about AD 1500 - 1700. It is in the form of a blunt ovoid disc with rounded corners and has an integral, conical rivet projecting form the centre of the reverse, now folded flat. This is probably a single disc from a two or four disc seal. There are no markings on the upper side but the reverse has stamped cross-hatching and there are also marks on the tab, from a stamped circular design, though these are now indecipherable. The seal has a cream coloured patina. It is 24.25mm long, 16.57mm wide and 3.79mm thick. It weighs 5.67g.
Some similar seals are recorded on the database; see for example references LIN-0DA237 and BH-5310A8.
