An incomplete Roman copper alloy Developed T-shaped brooch, from the middle of the 1st century to the middle of the 2nd century. The brooch is almost complete missing only the hinged pin. It has solid cast wings, each with two parallel and transverse incised lines, and the chain loop perforation is not drilled. The bow is solid and the head is sub rectangular being divided into two and framed by a raised rib. The two rectangles would have held enamelling, and the right hand rectangle still retains some of the original blue enamel. The centre of the bow has an acanthus moulding and is flanked to the top and bottom by a raised transverse rib.The lower half of the bow is triangular in section and finishes with a flat and rounded foot knob. To the rear a complete catchplate is connected from the acanthus moulding to the foot. The brooch has a rich rust brown patina.
