Small fragment of a Middle Saxon to Late Saxon copper alloy strap end, part of an animal-head terminal with no original surface present. An incomplete pair of ears lie above an incomplete, probably kite-shaped, cell inlaid with niello, the uneven surface of which suggests a loss of additional inlay, probably silver wire. Extant length and width 10.5 and 11.5mm. Thickness 1.4mm. Probably Thomas 2003, Class A, Type 5. 9th century.
