An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch dating to the Roman period, c. 43-100 AD. The brooch is of Colchester Derivative hinged type, demonstrating a circular-sectioned winged head with an internal axis bar and rectangular slot at its midpoint where the original pin would have hinged from (now missing in old damage). The wings themselves are each decorated with double moulded reeded collars, while the bow is 'D' shaped in section and demonstrates a prominent longitudinal crest running down its midpoint-with three moulded 'ribs' adorning each side. The bow tapers along its length towards a plain foot, from the back of which projects an incomplete integral catchplate. Preserved in good condition with an even brownish black patina, it measures 39.71mm in length, 32.59mm wide at its winged head, 3.52mm thick at the midpoint of the bow and weighs 8.16g.
