A copper-alloy key of Roman date. Slide key, probably used with a tumbler lock. The top section (bow) of the key is sub-rectangular and has a rounded upper edge and, just below, a circular hole. The stem is circular in section, hollow, and tapers towards the bit. The bit is set at right angles to the bow and has two wards and one cleft on one side and a single ward and cleft on the other. The object is slightly corroded. It measures 58.4mm long by 15mm wide and 6.3mm thick (at the bow). It weighs 21.14g.
