A copper alloy object which is probably part of a harness mount from an elaborate set, or a harness pendant of Medieval date, about AD 1200 - 1400. It is two elements. One is figurative, in the shape of a letter B with a projection from one end which divides into two arms that form part of a hinge. A copper alloy pin joins the two parts of the hinge. The other element is the single lug that articulates with the hinge and is broken at the other end. There is a trace of gilding on one side of the single lug, and on the internal bevelling round one of the loops of the B. The fitting weighs 5.66 g. It is 37.22 mm long. It is 15.36 mm wide . It is 6.10 cm thick. This is an unusual design for which a parallel has not yet been identified. Having the double lugs of the hinge on the B also seems unusual, as the double lugs are usually on the pendant suspension mount rather than the pendant, but there is no evidence of attachment on the letter. It could be an element from an elaborate harness mount such as SF-5A76E2.
