A complete but distorted coppper-alloy composite strap end dating to the Medieval period, c. 1250-1400. It is rectangular in plan although bent at an angle of about 45 degrees c. 2/3 of the way up its total length as a result of old damage. Tapering slightly along its length towards a projecting tri-lobed terminal, the two plates which make up both sides of the object are attached at their upper edge by a single circular-sectioned copper-alloy rivet and just above the terminal by a second. The front of the strap end is decorated along its sides with rocker-arm engraving, flanking a central curving line of rocker arm that serves to adorn the middle of the plate. Preserved in good condition with an even greenish patina, it measures 32.01mm in length in its current distorted state, c. 44mm in length accounting for the bend, 13.59mm wide at its upper edge, 1.59mm thick at its midpoint and weighs 5.29g.
A strap end of similar form is recorded on the PAS database as LIN-9E550B.
