An incomplete copper-alloy Roman brooch of the Colchester Derivative Hinged Type, dating to AD 43-120. The head is winged and has a cylindrical shape made by folding inwards the wings; it houses the copper-alloy axis-bar still in situ. At the centre of the back of the head there is a rectangular slot, from which a fragment of the hinged pin is still visible. The bow is slightly D-shaped and tapers towards the foot; the faces of the bow are worn and seem not to carry any particular decorations.The back face of the foot has a trapezoidal catch-plate, which has the rear edge slightly bent sideways to block the missing pin. The bow is heavily bent inwards.
