A copper-alloy Medieval buckle consisting of the frame and pin. It is a disc-on-pin buckle dating from AD 1300 - 1400 ( Redmayne type B). The frame is semi-circular in cross-section with a narrowed bar for the copper-alloy pin. Narrow notches on the back of the frame would have held a wire bar at right angles to the pin, but this is missing. The pin is formed from a small section of copper alloy with a loop to suspend it from the buckle frame, The centre of the pin expands into a circular disc decorated with an oval hollow in the centre. The pin then tapers to a sharp point. The pointed tip of the pin rests on the opposite side of the frame.
There is no decoration on the buckle frame and it is a patinated light green colour. The buckle is 17.30mm in diameter and weighs 2.48g.
