A ceramic assemblage of 24 sherds, all dating to the Roman period. Most preserved in reasonably fresh condition. The assemblage consists 18 pieces of wheel-thrown Nene Valley greyware (some originating from large flanged bowls) with a whitish internal fabric and blackish grey coating (10 rim, 3 base, 5 body) dating c. 150-350 AD, 2 sherds of shelly/shell-grit ware (1 rim, 1 body) with a brownish black fabric and numerous inclusions dating to the 3rd/4th century, a single body sherd of thick-walled Horningsea type storage vessel (browny orange fabric and decorated with interconnecting striations) of 2nd-4th century date, two body sherds of nene valley colour coated ware (3rd-4th century) demonstrating an off-white inner fabric covered with a brownish orange slip, and a single very worn and abraded rim-sherd of Samian imitation (?) with an orange inner fabric covered with the remains of a pinkish orange slip. Combined weight: 525g.
