Medieval copper alloy buckle. 32mm in length, 27mm wide and 5mm thick with a weight of 5.48grams.
The frame is sub rectangular in form and cross section. It comprises a larger plain oval shaped loop with a joining smaller rectangular loop to house a strap. In between the two is a central bar which has a central recessed area hold the pin, which is still partially wrapped around it.
A similar example is illustrated by Egan & Pritchard (2002: 103, no. 472) from a phase dated by ceramics to c. 1400-1450. cf. similar examples on this database: PUBLIC-4B301F, PUBLIC-5125E3, NLM-7C3824, DOR-891274, SWYOR-712D5E and KENT-D13121.
