MOUNT

Unique ID: LEIC-FC7614

Object type certainty: Probably
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

Early Medieval or Medieval copper alloy belt mount. 18mm in length, 14mm wide and 5mm thick with a weight of 2.16grams.

The object is in complete and has a rectangular shape and triangular cross section. It consists of three rounded flat projections at cardinal points, the fourth edge is broken. These flank a pyramid shaped solid centre. This has traces of recessed lines running from each corner to its apex. The form and patina suggest a late early Medieval date and it is possibly part of a harness/belt fitting?
