A post-Medieval or Modern copper-alloy and gilded misshapen strap fitting (c. 1775-c. 1900).
This object is an 'S'-shaped belt hook fastener. One side has a moulded design and the other side is flat. The fastener terminates with a dragon's head at each end. The eyes and mouth can be clearly seen. At the centre on the moulded side a band of pellets is flanked on either side by a plume of six 'feathers'.
The head could be that of a snake or swan.
