Copper alloy pin probably of a Late Iron Age to early medieval penannular brooch, comprising a shank of ovoid cross-section which flattens and widens into a loop. The latter has been unfurled and now lies in the same plane as the shank. Estimated original length c.35mm. Width at loop 7.5mm. Width of shank before expansion to loop 2.7mm. 1st - 7th century, but most likely to be Roman.
