An incomplete copper alloy pin dating to the early medieval period (AD 800 - AD 900). The pin head is large and biconical in shape, with a flattened top. There is a collar below the head and a very short section of shaft has survived.
The metal is worn and mid green in colour. The pin is 19.0 mm long, 14.6 in diameter and weighs 10.8 g.
A typology for early medieval pins has been synthesised by Haldenby (2012). This example falls into the biconical type (Haldenby 2012, 6).
