An incomplete copper-alloy harness pendant of medieval date, c.AD 1340 - 1406. The pendant is lozenge shaped with an integral suspension loop projecting centrally from the upper pointed end. The loop is broken and worn.

The front surface if the shield bears heraldic decoration quartered party per cross with a fleur de lis in the upper left and lower right angles. The arms of England featuring three lion passant decorate the upper right and lower left angles. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

The metal has a dark red/brown patina and is worn. The pendant is 45.9mm long, 34.9mm wide, 1.9mm thick and weighs 10.3g.

The quartering of the French and English coat of arms was adopted by Edward III in 1340 following his claim to the French throne. After 1406 the shield of French reduced the number of fleur de lis displayed to three.
