Copper alloy Roman plate brooch with enamelled cells dating c. 100-200AD. The brooch is sexfoil in shape and consists of six conjoined tear-drop shaped cells. These cells are joined together at the centre with a single copper alloy pellet. Each cell has a single copper alloy pellet at the wide end. The wide, outer edge, of each cell has a further pellet projection. The cells are filled with alternating coloured enamel - white (pale blue), dark blue (turquoise) and red - two cells of each colour. On the back of the brooch is a pierced projection for the hinge and pin, which is now missing, and a short catchplate. The brooch has a pale green patina and the enamel in the cells is slightly cracked and crazed.
