An incomplete Roman copper alloy birdlip-type brooch dating to the late Iron Age to Roman period (c. 50 BC to AD 50). The brooch has part of a loop extending back from the head and tapering into what would have been the spring but now terminates in a worn break. From the head, the brooch curves at a near right angle down towards the foot, where it starts to curve back outwards again slightly. The tight curve of the bow is decorated with a semicircular collar. The rest of the bow is bevelled towards the foot. Just above the foot is a small triangle-shaped projection. The catchplate, pin and spring are all missing. It a reddish brown colour with a patchy green patina.
