Shield-shaped boss or central block with stumps of the oval-sectioned arms of a medieval copper alloy purse bar in very degraded condition. The sacred monogram IHS in inlaid niello is just visible on one face of the boss while the other is illegible. Part of the shank of the central swivelling loop remains in a vertical hole. Ward Perkins 1940, Type A2. Height, width and thickness of boss 21, 19 and 10mm. Second half 15th century.
