A complete flint Awl of Mesolithic to Neolithic date (9000-2100 BC). The object is sub-spatulate in plan and bi-convex in section. The dorsal surface is convex with five predominant negative scars including a hinged flake removal at the proximal end. The proximal edge is curved with semi-abrupt retouch. The left and right hand edges have been blunted and a notch is present at the distal end. The distal end forms two points due to the large notch. The ventral surface is slightly convex due to a small bulb of percussion situated at the proximal end.
The lithic retains no cortex and is therefore a tertiary flake.
The flint is cream in colour with light grey inclusions throughout.
