Early Medieval ? copper alloy dress fastener, 15mm in length, 14mm wide and 0mm thick with a weight of 1.96grams.

The object is circular in form and rectangular in cross section, with two rounded 'ear' like projections with circular fastening holes close to each other on its outer edge. Opposite these are the remains of a rectangular projection which would have been hooked. The object is decorated with a raised pattern of grey/blackmaterial, probably niello? It has a circular border with the lower half filled with a series of short straight lines. These point inwards and some form chevrons at each side with short lines in between. On the upper side are are two longer lines running in to the centre and to the right (as shown) is a raised small circle with traces of a second one on the left side, suggesting this could be depicting a human face?
