A complete but damaged copper-alloy strap slide of possible Roman date, c.AD 43 - 410. The object comprises a rectangular plate with rounded corners and an integral looped strap bar to the reverse. The bar is broken at the middle point with both breaks old and worn.
The upper surface of the plate is decorated with a central groove flanked by a row of three annulets. The reverse is flat and undecorated.
The metal has a dark green/brown patina and is worn. The object is 17.8mm long, 9.2mm wide, 1.3mm thick and weighs 1.1g.
