A complete but worn copper alloy mount of medieval date. The mount is bar-shaped in plan with pointed terminals displaying worn zoomorphic features possibly indended to be birds' heads with downward curved beaks and bulbous eyes. In the centre of the mount is a raised boss with a square aperture. The underside of the mount is hollow. This may be one of several fittings, no direct comparision could be easily identified, it could be a knife quillion or a strap/harness/furniture fitting. Suggested date AD 1100-1400.
