Gold alloy Irstead type Iron Age quarter stater of the Iceni tribe. The coin is a whitish yellow and probably has an elevated silver content. Obverse: Latticed square on two opposing crescents with projecting branch above and below. Reverse: Horse stepping right, open head with pellet eye; further pellet between head and chest. Outline crescent with two ringed pellets above (one off-flan) in a smiling face configuration; triad of pellets in a triangular group to right. Ancient British Coins No.1480. Circa 20BC-AD10.
