A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy trade weight (c. 1850).
This weight is circular in plan and the sides flare from the base to a flat rim. The front face is dished and has stamped marks:
Crown above C*S; 'O' below C*S; '2' and unclear mark.
The outer part of the underside is flat and the centre is concave and uneven. A small hole penetrating the rim may be a casting flaw.
The weight is generally reddish overall.
Diameter: 36.0mm; thickness: 8.6mm; maximum width of rim: 3.7mm. Weight: 47.57g. (1.6780 ounces).
