A complete pewter button dating to the Medieval period (c. AD 1200-1400). The head of the button is disc-shaped with a slightly convex face and flat underside. The face has moulded decoration in the form of a small circle in the centre surrounded by radiating lines and a plain circumferential boarder. A large circular-sectioned shank with a bent circular attachment loop terminal extends from the centre of the underside. The head of the button is 15.5mm in diameter and 4mm thick. The button is 8mm in height including the bent shank, of which the attachment loop is 7.5mm in external diameter and 2mm internal diameter. The button weighs 5.02 grams.
