A complete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1400. Probably Meols type 6. The buckle is a single loop sub-oval with an expanded outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar. A flat sectioned pin remains fitted around the bar with an open loop.
The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 16.5mm long, 15.9mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 2.1g.
Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.22, no.139 and are dated to circa AD 1250 - 1400.
