An incomplete Middle-Late Iron Age copper alloy strap fitting, missing one of two loops to the reverse. The plate consists of a central concavo-convex rib, hollow to the reverse and decorated with a groove flanking either long edge to the convex front. Adjacent to the long edges is a furrow of C-shaped cross-section and with concave ends, a solid triangular-sectioned rib flanking its other long edge (this being flt to the reverse). A globular hemispherical knop, flat to the reverse and c.6mm in diameter adorns either end of this solid rib, to the outside edge. To the reverse of the object a rectangular loop extends from the underside ends of one rib; the other rib has worn stumps at these points. The arms of the loop are sub-circular/ -oval in cross-section (c.3x3mm and 3x2.5mm), the bar joining them flat and rectangular in cross-section (2.7x1.5mm). The loop is 10mm height and 19.6mm in width.
The object measures 31.5mm in length, 23.6mm in width, max.14.8mm in depth (at the loop; otherwise the plate is max.5.8mm this at the centre rib) and weighs 11.87g.
