Roman copper alloy clapper bell. It is a hollow cone with a circular suspension loop at the top. The bell is decorated with raised lines around the bottom and a ridge below the loop a small indentation on bottom rim.. Insidethere seems to be the remains of an iron clapper. Dates to between c43 and c410 AD. A similar object can be found in Crummy, N. (1995) Colchester Archaeological Report 2, Colchester Archaeological Trust, no. 4168.
