An incomplete flint tanged arrow head Sutton type b dating to the Middle Bronze Age: c. 2400-1000BC. The arrowhead is triangular in plan and there is a horizontal break at the tip. The arrowhead is bifacial worked. Both the dorsal surface and ventral surface are slightly convex. All edges have low angle retouch. The tang has been snapped off and is missing. The flint is dark grey with light grey inclusions throughout.

Dimensions: length: 32.55mm; width: 25.22mm; thickness: 5.14mm; weight: 4.34g

Green (1980:122 fig.45) illustrates a similar example.

Green (1980:138) writes "Sutton-type arrowheads span the full chronological and cultural span of the occurrence of barbed & tanged arrowheads. They occur with particular frequency in the graves of Beaker archers and it would seem that 'everyday' arrowhead forms were typically placed in such a context in contrast to a preference for finely-finished and possibly, therefore, sometimes non-utilitarian forms in Food Vessel, Urn and Early Bronze Age burials."
