An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval buckle, dating to AD 1200-1300. It is heavily bent and mishaped but, looking at other parallels it might have had a D-shaped frame. The outside edge is angled and expanded; the pin-bar is narrowed and off set. The front face of the outside edge is decorated with raised scrolls, now mostly faded; it bears traces of gilding.
