An incomplete post medieval cast copper alloy rectangular buckle dating to c.1600-1700. With just a portion of one loop remaining, the frame is rectangular in form with a deep D-shaped cross section being rounded on the top and flat on the bottom. A central moulded lobed protrusion forms a pin rest on the outer edge of the loop. The reverse is plain and flat. Would probably have once been a double looped buckle as illustrated in : Buckles 1250-1800, Page 79, No 486. Height 13.3mm, width 23.5mm, thickness 3.3mm and weight 3.6g.
