A complete copper alloy medieval annular buckle, dating to c. AD 1200-1300. The frame is circular in shape, and sub circular in cross section, the underside being flattened. The frame is decorated with three groups of two incisions and three groups of three incisions all equally spaced around the frame. There is no evidence of a pin bar. The copper alloy pin survives complete and moves freely around the ring. There is a slight green patina in places. The buckle is 18mm in diameter with a thickness of 2mm.
The lack of restriction for the pin suggests this is a buckle rather than a brooch.
