Medieval? copper alloy brooch? c. 30mm long, 24mm wide, 8mm thick, with a weight of 3.59g.
The object is circular in form and sub rectangular in cross section. It consists of two circular loops with a circular cross section, that sit above one another and have been joined together at their cardinal points. When viewed from the side this creates four oval loops.
At three of the cardinal points there is a outwards projecting sphercial knop. At the fourth (top as photographed) there is a flat circular platform and opposite this on the inside of the brooch is what appears to be part of a pin? there is no clear articulation for this so it appears to be fixed in place.
The object is most probably a brooch and could be of Medieval date but it may also be a very corroded younger object.
