An incomplete copper-alloy dress hook of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1500 - 1650. The dress hook is of Reads Class E, Type 8 being figurative in plan. The main plate is a convex, hollow domed boss bearing a human facing mask with a projecting ridged collar beneath the chin. An integral hook descends from the collar and curves backwards. The hook is bend slightly to the left as viewed from the front. Two short, fragmentary uprights from an attachment loop project from the top of the head and terminate in worn breaks.

The metal is green in colour. The dress hook is 25.7mm in length, 10.5mm in width and 3.9mm thick at its head, 2.0mm in width and 1.7mm thick at the shaft of the hook, and weighs 2.0g.

A similar example is illustrated in Read, p.114, no.459 and is dated to the early Post-Medieval period. Dress hooks of this type have been recorded on the database as YORYM-026BE2, YORYM-01A488, and NLM-38A92D.
