An incomplete copper-alloy decorative double looped rectangular buckle frame of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1600-1700. The buckle frame has straight edges at top and bottom and inside the two loops. There is an ovoid knop on each external corner of the frame. At the left and right sides are sub-triangular projections with inwardly curving edges beginning at the oval corner knops and meeting in a central point. A faintly incised straight line runs vertically down the left and right sides at the base of these projections. A second faintly incised line runs horizontally from the inner edge of the frame to the points of the side projections. At top and bottom there is a small knop on the outer edge of the frame at either end of a thin central strap bar. The reverse is plain. No trace of a pin or strap remains.

The metal is dark grey in colour with small brass-coloured chips and scratches on the underside. The buckle frame is 38.5mm in length, 23.2mm in width, 2.8mm thick, and weighs 6.2g.

Similar buckle frames are illustrated in Whitehead (1996) p.79 and are given a date range of c.AD 1600-1700.

Buckle frames of this type have been recorded on the database as WILT-CA30C5, DENO-D80704, and YORYM-4F422C.
