Lead conical spindle whorl of uncertain date (c. 43 - 1700 AD). The object is broadly oval in plan, with a flat bottom face and curved upper face, resulting in a triangular section. The central aperture has a diameter of 6.39mm.

Lead spindle whorls are difficult to date without archaeological context as a similar form was used from the Roman period to the modern day. It is not possible, therefore, to assign a more precise date range to this example. A number of similar examples are recorded on the database, including: GLO-238B69, WMID-3262CC and LANCUM-80986E.
