An incomplete, copper alloy, fragment of a probably Roman mount, AD.43-450. The object comprises a curved zoomorphic neck with a styled bird head terminal. The base of the neck is an old break. The head has a circular recess for an eye and some worn diagonal lines above representing feathers. The head tapers down to form the beak. The mount is decorated on only the front side, the back of the object is coarse and undecorated suggesting this was not visible in use. The object has a dark green patina.
