A copper alloy fragment from a Roman bracelet dating to the period c. AD 43 - 100. The bracelet is a wide cuff type and is decorated a pair of incised lines running down the centre and incised lines running parallel with and close to each edge. It is slightly convex on each face giving a pointed oval section. The inner surface is smooth and undecorated. It terminates in an old break at either end. It is shallowly curved in profile with a distinct bend in before the break, probably damage.

The fragment measures 24.8mm in length, 10.9mm in width, is 2.0mm thick and weighs 3.04g.

Although decorated with a different motif, a late Roman bracelet with a similar, thick, rectangular cross section can be seen published by Leach (1994: 123, no.17), excavated in Ilchester. Crummy (1983: 37) records two similar wide armlets, in particular no.1586 form a context dated c. AD 43 to c. AD 55, and suggests these are a distinct and early type.
