Fragment of a copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch, of Mackreth 2011, 1.2by. Plate 81, dating 100-240 AD. The fragment consists of the flared 'trumpet' head of the brooch and part of the bow. The hinge mechanism, pin and catchplate are missing. The head is decorated with scrollwork and is separated from the bow by an oval waist moulding above and below which is a horizontal groove. The bow is broken and the foot is missing.The brooch has a dark brown patina but this, and the decoration, has been obscured by the application of a wax coating.
