The die is cuboid in shape, with six sides and rounded corners. The numerical pits have been drilled into each surface. The metal has an even green patina and is slightly worn. This die is not regular (ie, the opposing faces do not add up to 7) and the opposing faces are respectively 1 and 3, 2 and 4, 5 and 6 (variant 8 in Egan 1997, FRG Datasheet 23). Such irregular dice are most common from the late medieval period; from 1550 the majority became regular. Dice are also known from the Roman period, however the crispness of the corners and lack of corrosion suggest that this example is more recent.2018-11-07 10:18:312018-11-11 12:52:05411Certain142936PAS5BE2BBF7001D1E74SURCopper alloy10627CompleteMEDIEVALMDx14221p0gjgrsxwzxPOST MEDIEVALPMx41047p0gjgrs6sgxMetal detectorCircaExactly92369483288776825341421SU5883SU5883SU58SE51.54292534-1.165044121011033957SUR2BBF7C.jpg587876Surrey County Council4images/smaslin/South EastEuropean RegionCountyOxfordshireDistrictSouth OxfordshireCivil Parish51.5473-1.16168MoulsfordReturned to finder97135
