A fragment of cast copper alloy socketed axe dating to the early Iron Age (800 BC -700 BC). The rim has a plano-convex profile and is 7.8mm thick. The lug aperture has a flattened oval shape; the lug itself is 9.7mm wide. The interior surface is rough. There is a prominent casting seam along the mid part of the fragment. The loop has the characteristic spurs of a Sompting Type Early Iron Age socketed axe.
