A cast copper-alloy oval spectacle buckle. The strap bar is intact, triangular in section, 2.5 mm in width, but the pin is missing. The casting is crude; at one end of the strap bar is a small, chamfered knop and at the opposite end two shallow, parallel incised lines, on either side of a raised ridge, which continue the line of the strap bar to the edge of the buckle. The loops are D-shaped in plan and in section with bevelled vertical inside edges and rounded outer edges, but are otherwise undecorated. Some areas have dark green patina where the original surface survives.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar buckle in plan on p.54, no.305 and one with lobed knops at each end of the strap bar on p.55, no.319 which both date from c.1500-1650.
