Copper alloy mount. Cast rounded concavo-convex plate with a narrower stalk; an open incised cross-hatch extends over the rounded part, with a basal borderline; a a pair of incised lines pass across the stalk. A rivet of diameter 1.6mm and length 4.7mm passes through the middle of the mount (cf. Griffiths et. al. Meols, page 119, pl. 20, nos 1129-1139. Mounts of this form are variously likened to schematic shell or animal head motifs. Suggested date: Late Medieval, 1350-1450
